Unity Psychiatric Care, a division of American Health Partners of Franklin, Tennessee, announced that Dr. Shankar Yalamanchili, MD (Dr. Chili) has joined its Huntsville, Alabama, psychiatric hospital as medical director. Dr. Chili, a board-certified psychiatrist with over 20-year experience, will oversee the hospital’s psychiatry staff, which treats older adults experiencing a mental health crisis or experiencing behavioral complications linked to dementia and other mental health conditions.
His primary practice is devoted to inpatient care and telepsychiatry services. Dr. Chili’s vision has been to improve access to mental health care to those who need it most, when they need it most. He also believes in the power of the mind-body connection, and that our mental health impacts our whole wellbeing. Dr. Chili is committed to improving the care of patients with mental health illnesses and believes mental health services are more effective if collaborative efforts are employed by using psychiatrists in conjunction with medications and therapy by mental health providers. Here at Unity Psychiatric Care our hospital specialized in a multidisciplinary approach to care.
Working alongside Dr. Chili is Shannon Nichols, CRNP who herself comes with an impressive resume of inpatient psychiatric experience. Shannon Nichols is board certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner working towards her goal of dual certification in both family and psychiatric practices. Shannon’s knowledge of the comorbidities associated with this population coupled with her psychiatric experience make her a wonderful addition to the team here in Huntsville.
