Malcolm Childress is a Madison County native and is the owner of Berkley Services. Berkley is a construction company that has been in business since 2013. However, as Malcolm said, “I have been in this line of work since the mid 1990’s.
I was very fortunate that my uncle took me under his wing and taught me about the importance of doing a quality job and providing great customer service. It was his inspiration that led me to start my own business and continue to hone my craft.”
Today, Malcolm, his brother and his oldest son are continuing this family business.
What can you tell us about the crew when they arrive at a clients home?
We pride ourselves on our professionalism. We are BBB certified so our clients can be assured that our standards are high. Our crews are uniformed, our vehicles are nice. Our crews all wear booties, we are licensed, and insured, bonded and our crews all go through a background check. We always clean up after ourselves and strive to ensure that the home or business owner doesn’t have any cleanup to do on their own.
Please tell our readers about the type of work you do
First, I want everyone to know that we do free, no obligation estimates. Companies will often say “No Job Too Big or Too Small” At Berkley Services, we really mean that. We like to say, “We Do the Job That the Honey Won’t Do.” From painting to drywall to general work around the house, we can do it.
What do you mean when you say “General work around the house?”
So let’s look at it room by room. The kitchen for instance, we can replace or resurface countertops whether they are solid surface, granite or marble. We paint or resurface your cabinets. Suppose a homeowner purchased a refrigerator but it’s too far from the water source, we have a licensed plumber that can do the work. By the way, we also have a licensed electrician on staff for any electrical work that needs to be done.
In the bathroom, we will reface tubs and showers, paint of course and we will also change colors, if the homeowner wants it. Since we have a licensed plumber we are very adept at taking care of any plumbing needs that the homeowner would like to have done.
Family rooms and great rooms are really a lot of fun for us. We know that family time is important, so installing TV mounts, ceiling fans and taking down wallpaper is also a part of what we do.
As far as the outside of the house, painting, pressure washing, cleaning gutters are also part of our services. We love to work on decks, whether it’s replacing a few boards, an entire deck rebuild or building out a patio our crew will work quickly, skillfully and efficiently.

One area of service that you want to help with is de-cluttering
That’s true. Oftentimes, homes get cluttered; we’ll come in and work with homeowner to declutter. If items need to be donated we can make arrangements for pick up from local charities. It’s always a good feeling to be able to be able to repurpose items from the home.
Finally, what thoughts about Berkley Services would you like to leave the readers with?
We are a full service organization. We are not so big that a homeowner or business is just a number on a spreadsheet. We build relationships with our clients and being BBB certified a client should know that we stand behind our work. ALWAYS.
