Zack Gardner is one of the newest members of the Mercedes Benz sales team. He is a Huntsville native, having attended Huntsville High. He is a graduate of UAB, with a degree in Economics and Finance. Zack is also a proud member of Kappa Alpha PSI Fraternity INC. He has 1 son Elijah who is 8.
I had the opportunity to interview Zack about his position with Mercedes Benz of Huntsville.
Please tell our readers about your automotive background.
I started over 20 years ago as a salesman at Bill Heard Chevrolet. I have been fortunate to have had some wonderful mentors as I worked my way up in the business.
What were some of the things that you learned from your mentors?
The most important thing I learned is that this is a relationship business. Knowledge is very important, but it’s the ability to sell yourself that can set you apart. Let’s face it, buying a car can be high anxiety: it’s typically the 2nd largest purchase that a client will make. It cannot be accomplished without trust. That’s the most important thing.

What is the role of the sales manager?
There are several roles that I play. First is motivation. In the sales world it is always Showtime. Energy, enthusiasm, an easy smile are the first things a customer sees. I also help with the finance piece by putting the budget together so we can make sure that the payments fit the customer’s budget. The other part is to coach the salesperson thru the sales process. I am always available to answer any questions as they come up.
What does Mercedes Benz mean to you?
Mercedes Benz is the epitome of luxury. Every auto is compared to it. Dependability, reliability and handcrafted are all the hallmarks of a Mercedes Benz.
What would you like the readers of South Huntsville Neighbors to know about you?
I am here to provide the best car buying experience in Huntsville. The hardest thing is finding a vehicle that you’d like to own. The rest we make easy for you.
