The 2023 Mercedes AMG SL Class can be viewed as a sports car but it is really a wonderful touring car. With it V-8 powertrain and the 469hp SL 55 and the 577hp SL 63, one can understand how it can be viewed this way. All models come with all wheel drive.
The SL has enough space for 2 adults and has outstanding luxury and tech features. This new iteration of the SL has a new grey fabric roof option as well as available two tone white and black leather upholstery. Standard also are massaging seats, a heads-up display and a Burmester Sound System. Both are offered in either Touring or Performance specifications.
Engine, Transmission, and Performance
Both models have a twin turbo 4.0 liter V-8 engines. A nine speed automatic transmission is the only one available and all wheel drive and four wheel steering are standard. Acceleration is excellent and very responsive.
Interior, Comfort and Cargo
The SL Class is a two door convertible and its new fabric roof is a welcome addition. The interior is luxurious and Mercedes new Airscarf feature blows warm air onto the necks of the passenger and driver during cold weather driving is standard.
Infotainment and Connectivity
All SL models come with Mercedes MBUX Infotainment system with the “Hey Mercedes” virtual assistant. Its 11.9 inch touchscreen infotainment display can be adjusted to each driver’s preference. A 12.3 inch digital gauge display is also standard. Navigation and both Apple Car Play and Android are also included. There is an option to upgrade the Burmester sound system.
Safety and Driver Assistance
It’s a Mercedes so you know that safety is paramount. Key features include, standard automatic emergency braking with pedestrian detection, standard lane departure with lane keeping assist, adaptive cruise control with the lane centering feature plus a host of other safety features.
