List of Upcoming Events: 2022 Armed Forces Celebration


Every year, the Huntsville/Madison County community plans a number of events for our Armed Forces Celebration. We encourage you to mark these dates on your calendar.


Monday, June 27 at 8:00 a.m. – Proclamation Signing Ceremony
at Huntsville/Madison County Veterans Memorial (200 Monroe Street NW, Huntsville, AL 35801)
Leaders from Huntsville, Madison, Madison County, and Redstone Arsenal will sign a proclamation and the Maneuver Center of Excellence Band, from Fort Benning, will play patriotic music. In case of rain, the proclamation signing will be moved indoors to the Huntsville/Madison County Chamber, located at 225 Church Street NW, Huntsville, AL 35801. (Weather call will be made on Sunday afternoon.)

Monday, June 27 at 6:30 p.m. – Concert in the Park & Fireworks Show
Come enjoy a night of music and fireworks downtown! Arts Huntsville and the City of Huntsville Department of Parks & Recreation’s 2022 Military Appreciation Night Concert in the Park will feature the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCOE) Band from Ft. Benning, Ga. Come join the fun in beautiful Big Spring Park as we honor our military, and don’t forget to stay through the fireworks show. More information here.


Tuesday, June 29 at 6 p.m. – Community Softball Game at Toyota Field
Community Leaders will host Redstone Arsenal leaders in a Community Softball Game at Toyota Field. Parking and admission are FREE – gates open at 5:30p.m. and we invite everyone to come watch the game and enjoy a night at the ballpark. We’d love a big crowd! Concessions will be available for purchase. More information here.

Currently scheduled to play for the North Alabama Rockets (Community Leaders team): Huntsville Mayor Tommy Battle, Madison Mayor Paul Finley, Madison County Commission Chairman Dale Strong, Huntsville Director of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Kenny Anderson, Huntsville City Council representative Devyn Keith, State House Representative Rex Reynolds, Madison County Sheriff Kevin Turner, Huntsville Board of Education member Ryan Renaud, and more.

The Arsenal team will include representatives from various military commands on base. They’ll compete for the coveted ‘Target Destroyed’ trophy and bragging rights. Come out and root for both teams!


In addition to these events, many local attractions will offer free or discounted admissions for military families. These include:

Huntsville Botanical Garden: Active and retired military personnel and their immediate families are invited to enjoy complimentary admission every day from June 27 through July 4. Please be prepared to show your military ID at the door. This complimentary admission is brought to you by Lockheed Martin.

Huntsville Museum of Art: Discounted admission for active military between June 27 – July 1.

EarlyWorks Family of Museums: Free admission for active/retired military and their immediate family
members between June 27 – July 1 with proof of ID.

Heart of the Valley YMCA: Free admission for active/retired military and their immediate family
members between June 27 – July 1 with proof of ID.
