By Hilary Gould Executive Director, CCYR
and Brandi Quick Executive Director, Ditto Landing
Ditto Landing’s Independence Day Celebration is Saturday June 25. Gates open at 5pm with live music beginning at 6pm and Star 99’s Fireworks Display at 9pm. This free admission event features all of the best things about an Independence Day Celebration – live music, fireworks, food trucks, and an amazing view of the Tennessee River! “Ditto Landing is thrilled to collaborate with Christmas Charities Year Round for the 2nd year! This collaboration allows Ditto Landing to celebrate Independence Day while also celebrating the work that CCYR does to help those in our community live independently in their own way,” says Ditto Landing Executive Director Brandi Quick.
Christmas Charities Year Round (CCYR) will host the 2nd Annual Santa’s Star Spangled Celebration at the VIP Pavilion. A limited number of VIP passes will be available for sale and must be purchased in advance at www.CCYR.org. This VIP space, which centers within Ditto Landing’s Kingston Pavilion, offers covered outdoor seating and tables.

Dinner and iced tea will be catered by Dreamland BBQ for all Santa’s Star Spangled Celebration pass holders. In addition to a comfortable and convenient setting, pass holders will have VIP-exclusive access to a cash bar with a selection of beer and wine, convenient access to restrooms, and a magnificent view of the performance stage and fireworks display.
VIP passes are available online at www.CCYR.org for $25 per person, free passes for children 5 years and younger with purchase of an adult ticket. CCYR Executive Director Hilary Gould also shared a secret, “Santa is planning a personal visit to thank everyone for helping support CCYR!”
All Santa’s Star Spangled Celebration proceeds benefit CCYR, Huntsville’s oldest local nonprofit. Founded in 1949 by Milton K. Cummings, to help local families after a boll weevil infestation devastated the area cotton crop. Since then, CCYR has been providing Madison County’s underserved population with basic necessities to help improve the quality of life throughout our shared community. For over 73 years, CCYR
has served residents in need by providing new toys and gifts for children and seniors during the Christmas and winter holidays as well as donated clothing, furniture, and medical equipment year-round at no cost. The Mobile Closet is a portable trailer used to distribute clothing, hygiene items, and school supplies to children in need directly at their schools throughout Madison County. It will be on display at the Independence Day Celebration to bring attention to CCYR’s efforts to clothe those in need.
CCYR is a conduit between those in need and those who want to donate items to the underserved residents in need. The CCYR Warehouse accepts donations Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. All donations are sorted and utilized for the Clothing, Furniture or Waste-Not Medical Equipment program. Any unusable, torn, or stained donation is recycled to help make the world a greener place.
When asked how this event helps CCYR and the community, Gould explained, “CCYR relies solely upon local financial donations, corporate sponsorship, grant funds, and event fundraisers, like this one. Working with Ditto Landing has enabled CCYR to participate in the Independence Day Celebration and continue to assist the underserved communities.”

Last year, the inaugural collaboration with Ditto Landing, Santa’s Star Spangled Celebration, sold out of passes over a week before the Celebration. Gould encouraged those who want to participate in Santa’s celebration to “purchase their passes early by going to www.CCYR.org.”
Christmas Charities Year Round is honored to partner with the Supporting Sponsors, Bank Independent and Google Fiber, and a special thanks to the Madison County Legislative Body for their support.
