Third Annual BBQ and Bluegrass Festival

By Phil Riddick
County Commissioner
District 5

Who doesn’t love good music and BBQ in a beautiful setting? These are three of my favorite things, and you can experience all this with me at the Third Annual BBQ & Bluegrass Festival.

Scheduled for Saturday, October 9 at Southside Park, this family-friendly event will feature three local bluegrass bands (45 Surprise, Another Town, and Fireball Mail) playing from Noon until 6 pm. Bring your lawn chairs and come hungry as food trucks will be on site—Chillz on Wheels and Badd News BBQ. Sponsored by South Huntsville Main Association and Madison County District 5, there is no admission charge for this event.

This festival showcases all that South Huntsville and Southside Park have to offer. Whether you are taking a stroll on the Aldridge Creek Greenway or giving your dog some exercise at the dog park, stop in and enjoy the music in the shadows of the foothills to the east. Kids will enjoy the playground while adults enjoy the music, and there are even disc golf and archery areas. You may even see South Huntsville residents’ roller blading, skateboarding and hula hooping!

Mark your calendars and make plans to enjoy a relaxing day at BBQ & Bluegrass at Southside Park (16159 Chaney Thompson Rd SE, Huntsville, AL 35803) on Saturday, October 9 from Noon to 6 pm.
