Like many of you, I too was raised in a military family. This helped to develop a deep love and respect for all those who have chosen to serve. Living on military bases, uprooting every 2 years to new locations and living overseas, has made us who we are today. But, there are a lot of men and women who have chosen to serve and then go right back into civilian life. Their contribution is just as significant. Veterans Day is for “All” Veterans!
This day is usually marked by parades and church services and in many places the American flag is hung at half-mast. Even if we do not have as many outdoor activities celebrating our veterans, I know hanging an American flag outside of your home or place of business, says volumes. When our real estate office would go to Ditto Landing and line the entrance with small American flags, we would receive so many calls from veterans saying thank you to us.
The American flag speaks for itself. It brings precious memories to our veterans, it reminds them of their past endeavors, it fills their hearts with pride and reminds them, they are not forgotten. Serving our country is a sacrifice of love yet, for so many it is the stepping stone that was needed for them to grow and become who they are today. The military is a brother/sisterhood, which includes all of us; because everyone knows someone who has served. Putting even 1 small flag out will be saying thank you to every veteran who passes your way! From my home to yours, I say thank you for responding and if you are a veteran, I say God bless you and God bless America!
I personally have 3 flags hanging off my front porch, a heartfelt thank you to my husband and my two sons!
