Where in the World?

“I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.” ~ Mary Anne Radmacher

Where in the world would you like to go? Where in the world have you been? Where in the world were you scheduled to go, but had to change your plans due to our world shutting down its borders? As we’ve all been sequestered at home for the past several months, we are each experiencing feelings like never before. I must confess that writing this article at this time was a challenge for me. But I am also very grateful for the opportunity; because we are all in this together.

Wanderlust: The desire to travel. Do you have it? If so, where do you wish to go next?

Those of us with a true passion for travel are very resilient. We understand that in our future travels, we may experience some adjustments, additional precautions, and a few new obstacles. However, our desire to explore the world is what drives us and gives us hope and optimism. Wherever we go becomes a part of us somehow. It will all be okay. We are all in this together.

At Windham Travel & Leisure, our tag line is “What’s on your bucket list?” This is very fitting for my husband Darin, and me, because we have a travel bucket list together. You know the expression don’t you?  “Bucket List” may be broad. It is a list of the goals you want to achieve, dreams you wish to fulfill, and adventures you desire to experience in your lifetime. Personally, our dream is to visit every continent and most of the natural and man-made wonders of the world before we turn 65.

Over the years we’ve seen (and taken) many travel list challenges; top destinations, countries, islands, landmarks, etc to visit in our lifetime. The challenge is to check off all of the places you’ve visited. The creators believe that most people will have visited fewer than 10 of the places on a list. I personally love lists like this; and Darin will sometimes humor me by taking them with me. We are both well-traveled, but there are also several “places” on these lists that we have not yet explored. They include Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, South Africa, Brazil, Peru, Bora Bora and Antarctica. We hope to check them off our list in this decade. We have several friends who also join us on our adventures; and we all have the time of our lives!

We would like to take this opportunity to encourage you to keep your travel dreams alive. As soon as borders open back up to us, we challenge you to get back out there and enjoy our big beautiful world. Our international friends and colleagues will welcome us all with open arms, because they have missed us too. And when you’re ready, we’ll be here to help you fulfill your travel dreams just as if they were our own.

Sweet Travel Dreams.

  1. Hello.

Why not visit the Arctic Circle and to have a reindeer ride and at the same time meet Santa? This is normal in my country, but this is unique in a world – participating in a reindeer race, which is free for everybody!

    Reindeer rides and Santa

    Reindeer race 3

Participating in a reindeer race is much more exiting than drive fast on a German highway where are now speed limits!

    Have a wonderful day!
